I even think the fiscal interventions at the very end of Bush’s term did more to prevent the worst than any of O’s policies. But it happened on O’s watch.

Cotton is just politically cherry picking. He does have a very good point about O’s early dismissal of ISIS, but he of course ignores the deterioration of Afghanistan, the desertion of the Kurds in Syria, or the tepid response to the Khashoggi assassination under Trump.

But at least these are more regular-way policy disagreements. Personally, I wasn’t a huge fan of O’s foreign policy, so I don’t completely dismiss Cotton’s concerns here. This is more what the opposition is supposed to do in a democracy, and his objections amount to an acknowledgement that the American people in fact fired Trump.
